Hello and thanks for this forum!
I am knitting the Rug sweater: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rug-11
I would like to make the drop of the underarm not quite as dropped…if that makes sense. I am at section 8. Can I just cut back in the knit rows in section 8 or 9? Section 9 is short rows so I am not sure if I can do that?
Thanks for any suggestions you may offer.

You want to separate for the sleeves earlier in the sweater so that the underarm is up closer to your armpit? Then it depends on how much you want to shorten the drop.
Several of the project notes mention shortening the drop. These eliminated the first chart as an easy way to do that.

Thanks so much. I am on section 8 so I can’t do that. Could I eliminate several of the rows in section 8?
Section 8 is the colorwork chart so that would mean abbreviating the chart. You could eliminate the 2 short rows in section 9 but you’d need to do the increases at the end of 9 before separating for the sleeves.
Ripping out is painful, I know.
Also, I am knitting the entire sweater in one color.
Since I am not using the colorwork would removing 4 rows from section 8 work?
Thanks!
Aha, yes. As long as you keep to the stitch number before the division for the sleeves, that should work. Of course you can always change the stitch number if you want to change the size of the body or sleeves. You’re doing a bit of sweater design here so there may be a bit of experimenting needed.
A lifeline may be a good idea in case you want to make some changes.
Thank you! I have heard of the life line, it’s a great idea. I may just eliminate some rows to make things easier.
Let us know how it goes!
I will, thank you!
Eliminating the rows worked and it was an easy way to get the underarm to not be so long!
Excellent! Glad you’re on your way.
