Rt-p?

I’m working on a sweater and the pattern calls for an RT-P, which is described as:

“K2TOG, but do not drop the sts from left-hand needle, insert right-hand needle btwn the 2 sts just worked and purl the first stitch again, drop both sts from the left-hand needle.”

OK, I’m doing what it says, but it doesn’t look right. I’m ending up with 2 loops on my needle, however, when it comes to “work and purl the first stitch again” I’m getting confused. Also, what’s “insert right-hand needle btwn the 2 sts just worked” mean? How am I supposed to purl the first stitch if the needle is on the left of of it?

Is the first stitch the one on the left, or the one on the right? I’m assuming it’s the one on the right (if you assume that the sts are coming from the left-hand needle.) I’m about 1/2 way through the first rnd of doing this, and I wanna make sure I’m not doing it all wrong.

Also, I thought RTP meant “Right twist Purl”, which is NOT what this is asking me to do. I can’t even find a picture of what this pattern is asking for…why do people have to complicate my life by making things up?? :wall:

This is a new one on me, too.

The first stitch is the one closest to the point. I’d knit the two together, don’t slide them off; bring the yarn to the front and purl the first stitch and then slide them off. The full effect might not show up right away. If you rows are long, you might want to try it on some extra yarn to make sure it looks the way you think it should.

It is a right twist with a purl. You can to a right twist by knitting the two together and then knitting the first one again. This just has you purl that stitch.

I think they tell you to put the needle between just as a way of telling you that the needle will come out between the two stitches.

Thanks, Ingy!

I’ll try to do it on some scrap first. Yeah, it looks strange to me…I’ll see what happens. Thanks, again!
