Rows too far apart?

Hi there, I’ve just started my second ever knitting project. It’s a garter stitch scarf, so nothing fancy. I think my rows are further apart than they should be, though, and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to Knitting Help!!! I think your knitting looks great!! Nice, even stitches too!

Sometimes rows can look like they’re far apart when the needle size is really big, but that’s not the case here. Honestly, your knitting looks perfect!! Keep going and be sure to post a pic when you’re done!!!

I agree with @knitcindy, your stitches are good looking!

It looks great! I really like that yarn you’re using, too. Nice colours!

Those ‘lines’ are garter ridges, it’s what happens when you only use knit stitches. Each ridge counts as two rows, that is just how the knitting lines up with all knit stitches. They look like how they are supposed to, especially if you are just starting out!
