Rowan pattern help!

Hello knitters!

I’m having trouble with another pattern. This one is a gorgeous jumper, pattern by Rowan quail studio. I have attached a photo of bit I can’t figure out at all. What does that line of next next mean? And what about the alt rows?

thank you in advance for your help :smiling_face:

Once you have the 72sts, decrease one stitch at each end of the next row (you only need pay attention to the direction for your size, the 3rd size). If you call that row, row 1 then you’ll decrease on rows 1,2 and 3 then on rows 5,7,9,11,13 etc until you get to 21sts.

Thank you for getting back to me! so does it mean That after 5 lines I have to ignore the raglan decreases and just decrease a stitch per side, on alternate rows?

Yes, after 5 rows, you’re only going to work the raglan decreases every other row. (Remember to decrease 2x per decrease row.)

That makes a lot more sense than the instructions
So the same logic will apply to the sleeves as well, which the pattern specified as:

Right?

Thanks again

Yes, same idea except the raglan decreases are consistently every other row.

Perfect! So I’ll decrease every row in the sleeves. the beginning of the sleeve patter is a little confusing too… would you mind helping me out with this as well?

The increases seem to be on the 6th/8th rows, which are even and therefore purl rows, so how can that be correct, considering that the increasing instructions are for a knit row?

And does that mean that I have to do the increase only on certain rows?

The raglan dec are every other row or every alternate row for the sleeves.

If you call the Next Row, row 1 then every 6th row is rows 7,13,19,25 and so on. All the increases will be on knit rows.

Every now and then I come across a pattern that does have increases on purl rows and I change them to knit rows instead. It’s a personal preference, nothing wrong with increases on purl, I just prefer to put them on knit rows. Anyway, all your increases fall on knit rows.
