I’m having a hard time understanding the “Bo”pattern in, Rowan Babies. Most of the sweaters in the book have the same step for “shape shoulders and back neck.” So, I’ve shaped the arm holes (45 stitches). Next row (RS): Cast off 5 sts, K until there are 8 sts on right needle and turn, leaving remaining sts on holder (that would be 32 sts on holder?). This is where I start to get confused…
Work each side of neck separately.
Cast off 4 sts at beg of next row.
Cast off rem 4 sts. (Would this be the 2nd row? Cuz otherwise they would say cast off 8 sts, right? Plus do I leave a tail and cut the yarn?)
With RS facing, rejoin yarn to rem sts, cast off center 19 sts, K to end (13 sts would remain?)
Complete to match first side reverse shapings (WHAT???).
FRONT: work as given for back until 10 rows less have been worked than on back to start of shoulder shaping, ending with WS.
Can you just check the exact wording of the final shaping rows? I’d expect the higher edge of the shoulder shaping to be towards the neck to make a slope in the shoulder rather than the highest part being the middle of the row. This would mean working the bind offs on the right side to make the slope.
I might be wrong though and bind off at the neck edge could be for neck shaping.
You have the stitch count correct for each part.
And yes, cut the yarn leaving 10 cm tail to weave in later.
Rejoin by holding on to a new tail and working the first stitch of the neck, this will be a bit loose but you can snug it up by pulling on th tail and you will be binding off this first stitch for the centre neck.
The reverse shaping for the other shoulder would begin on the wrong side row at the arm edge, so bind off the centre stitches, work to end, turn then bind off 5, work to end, bind off 4, bind off 4.
