Rose of England - background stitch

Stuck without my reference - and this is bugging me…

In the petals of the Rose of England (Kinzel) there is a background where at least one row is alternating m3, p3tog stitches.

I can’t remember if it is simply

  1. m3, p3tog, m3, p3tog etc

  2. knit all

  3. p3tog, m3, p3tog, etc

  4. knit

or if it was more complicated then that…
