Right pattern, wrong yarn, TOO BIG - HELP

Hi, I made a cable sweater called Mossdale on ravelry.
I used Cascade Eco cloud yarn, as recommended by my lys. The yarn is 70% wool 30% alpaca. The sweater came out way too big. It is huge. I blocked it in hopes that it would get smaller, but I think it got bigger.
I hear that alpaca stretches. There is so many hours of work in the sweater I don’t want to frog it. Is there any safe way to make is “shrink” so that it is wearable.
Here is a photo. Is the clothes dryer an option?

Both yarns are in the 4 category but there can be a big difference in size from the thinnest to the thickest included. Did you make gauge when you swatched? I’d be wary of putting it in the dryer.

Yes, I made gauge. It seems like it stretched. :woman_facepalming:t3:

All I’m sure of is I’d not want to put it in the dryer. Someone should be better at helping you figure out a solution. Don’t give up! I’d have to frog it and decide whether to reuse the yarn for the same pattern or find a different project.

It’s a really beautiful sweater and so nicely done. I agree with GG, the dryer isn’t a safe way to resize it.
Can you take in the sweater a little at the side seams?

Hmm. I will pin it and see what that looks like. Thanks
