Ribbing Trouble

Hi Amy and all,
i’m doing ribbing and have been doing it since last night just to get the right ‘ribbing’ shape…i’m doing the procedures correctly and i’ve just done amy’s ribbing procedures, too…the result?..it’s a mess…the shape is not high-low-high-low shape…the shape is like polkadot here, polkadot there…it’s looked like more a knot-spread than a ribbing…

i thought it’s like knit, purl, knit, purl plus moving the yarn forward, backward, etc…and when to get to the row 2, i only have to adjust the first row…if it was started with knit, then i’ll purl…well, anyway, girls…i did both of knit-knit and knit-purl, the result was seemed still the knot-spread…

it’s sooo embarassing so i’m hesitate to give you the picture of those knots…

is ribbing not looked good on thicker yarn?
i’m not using yarn like amy’s…

please help…any tips , suggestions, or anything?
picture sample of using thicker yarn maybe?anything, girls…i need help here…

Ribbing should look like ribbing, no matter what thickness of yarn you have so that is likely not the problem.

What you are describing sounds like it might be seed stitch. Seed stitch is a bit the opposite of ribbing in that you knit the purls and purl the knits. This might be what’s happening.

To get 1x1 ribbing…if you end your row with a knit stitch, the first stitch on the next row will be a purl. If you end your row with a purl, the first stitch on the next row will be a knit.
