Is K4 P4 ribbing stretching enough for a cap edge? I’m knitting my first hat but not really following a pattern. I like the look of the rib but I’m not sure if it’s a good choice. It will be felted some because it’s huge. Will felting make it less stretchy?
4x4 ribbing will be a gentle stretch factor. But do use a smaller needle (by 2 or 3 sizes) than the body of the hat.
Felting it? :?? I dunno. I think felting will sap the energy right out of the ribbing. ‘Freeze-drying’ it on the spot. Like matted hair: it’s locked into itself.
I don’t think felted items stretch at all.
