Ribbing on top of sock

I’m following the Silver’s sock class for my first pair of socks (DPNs). I’m about to start the heel flap! The instructions are for ribbed top part and stockinette foot part. I want to have ribbed on the top of the foot. Is this going to be hard? Any suggestions on how I can do this? I was planning on winging it but perhaps I should have a plan. :stuck_out_tongue:

My very loose winging it plan was to start the ribbing when I’ve finished the heel and have everything back on the needles knitting in the round. Rib when I’m on the top of the foot and stockinette when I’m on the bottom.

Yes, that’s how it would work. Just work the sts for the top of the sock in the pattern you want (be it ribbing or any other pattern), and the sole of the sock in stockinette.
