Reverse stockinette on a circular needle?

Hi! I’m very new at all of this. I’m trying to expand beyond the scarf mode and trying a blanket.

I was just watching the online video about circular knitting. She stated that you can just keep knitting around and around (no purling) for stockinette stitch.

I have a blanket pattern for knitting on a circular needle that calls for stockinette stitch but also reverse stockinette stitch…

How do I do reverse stockinette stitch on a circular??

Thanks!

I would assume that it means to purl each row. Regular stockinette on circs would have the V’s in front…reverse stockinette would have the V’s in back.

Sounds like possibly your blanket will be reversible.

Reverse stockinette on circular needles is purl every round.

And just for your info, garter stitch on circular needles (which normally on straight needles is knit every row) is knit one row, purl one row, etc.

Thanks to both of you for your help!!!

I would think that, because blankets are flat items, you are just using circular needles because of the number of stitches and so just do flat knitting. Unless it says to join stitches, the circular needles are just to distribute the weight to the middle so that it can sit in your lap and you won’t get arm strain. If it says to join stitches; you purl every row for reverse stockinette, knit every row for regular stockinette, and knit 1 row purl 1 row for garter. You don’t turn your work, only swap needles from one hand to the other at the end of row, so the right side is always facing you

Clarity, this is a 6 year old post. However did you find it?

Sorry. It was top google result when I looked up the stitch to remind myself 'cos it’s in a cowl I just started
