Senior moment - completed the right side of Drops Stormcloud and began the left side. The instructions say to reverse the pattern and begin the short rows on the reverse side. To me it looks like the right side all over again even though I started the short rows on the reverse/wrong side. Maybe I’m overthinking this but I can’t seem to wrap my head around this.
You’ve started with the button band and collar sts? The short rows are symmetrical (32-67-102-67-32sts) so they’ll look quite similar to the left side.
Yes, completed the right side front. The left side is driving me nuts. I assume I knit the initial 12 rows of 178 stitches and then start my short rows on the reverse side. I’m panicking because I don’t want to wind up with two right side pieces.
Essentially you have to read the instructions for the right front backwards starting at the button band. It’s not the nicest way to write a pattern, that’s for sure.
I find that the easiest thing is to match up the left front with the right front to make sure I have mirror images. That insures that each area is knit for the correct length.
Finally I figured out what was going wrong. I need to Purl the short row, then knit. The reverse of the right front. This way my design is on the proper side.
