New knitter trying to follow ‘work to match right front’ instruction.
Pattern is Patons 3074.
Struggled to do Right Front but just can’t reverse the shaping! It is driving me crazy!
Pattern has 4 rows repeating. I have read that you ‘just’ move down one row so you are doing the decreases on the wrong side. I just can’t get my head around this?
Here is the pattern:
Right Front:
Hi Sheilahg, this is a very pretty cardigan and will be worth all your effort. Thank you for posting the pattern image, which is very helpful, but you will need to delete it because of copyright infringement!! A few lines written or a portion of the pattern in a photo is permissable but not the complete pattern.
Anyway, to answer your question, you will not work the left front decreases on the reverse side. You work the slope the same as the right side except that you reverse how you worked it, the end of the row becomes the start or you work it backwards.
If you read under the left front instructions in the paragraph before the Sleeves section, they explain what to do for the left slope there.
Hope this helps, enjoy your knitting
Where are you at in the pattern. I’m guessing you have already changed needles and have worked the first 4 pattern rows as given above and then the corresponding rows needed for the size you are making 8(12,20, 24,28) and then the next 2 rows but without making the buttonhole?
The next row(pattern row3?) you begin with k3,p1 and repeat up to the last 19 sts, k2tog and then work the last 17sts in pattern as you have been doing.
Good, have you worked the 8 pattern rows after changing needles and then the next 2 rows ( as for the right front, but without making a buttonhole) ?
Edited to say have you worked the first 12( not 8) rows
