Reverse Pattern Placement -- How do I do this?

Hi All! I’m new here so please be gentle with me.

I’m knitting the Bahia Tie Front Cardigan from the April 2010 issue of Knit N’ Style magazine. First off, I found a few errors in the pattern, which had me going crazy until I found them.

I’ve kntted the back and the left front panel of the pattern with no real problems – other than the aforementioned mistakes in the pattern. But now, I’m seriously about to pull out every hair on my head. I thought I understood what it meant to “reverse the pattern placement” but when I do the pattern in reverse the right front panel is not the mirror image of the left front panel as it should be. Here’s the Left Front panel instructions for Row 1 and Row 2:

Row 1 (RS): K1, K2, K3, K2tog, YO, K1-TBL, YO, SSK, K3, P1, K1, K2tog, K2, YO, K1-TBL, YO, K2, SSK, K1, P1, K3, K2tog, YO, K1-TBL, YO, SSK, K3, P1; work 9 stitches of front band in 1x1 rib

Row 2 (WS): work 9 stitches of 1x1 rib; K1, P4, P1-TBL, P1, P1-TBL, P4, K1 (3x)

So, if I were to reverse these rows, would I do the following:

Row 1: Work 9 1x1 rib stitches; P1, K3, SSK, YO, K1-TBL, YO, K2tog, K3, P1, K1, SSK, K2, YO, K1-TBL, YO, Ks, K2tog, K1, P1, K3, SSK, YO, K1-TBL, YO, K2tog, K3, K2, k1

Row, 2: K1, P4, P1-TBL, P1, P1-TBL, P4, K1 (3x)l work 9 stitches of 1x1 rib

I’ve tried that and it just doesn’t look quite right. Any ideas? Before I go bald?

Hmmm, I’d think that would work. Since the front band of ribbing is at the end of the row, you’d do it at the beginning. But you also need to reverse the direction of the decs, maybe that’s what isn’t looking right. So the first side where you do ssk, do k2tog, and vice versa. That should probably do it.
