Question: I’ve started a baby blanket and in looking over the pattern it says portions will be reverse garter stitch. If it looks just like regular garter stitch why the difference. It’s the ABC baby blanket by Jenny Williams. Not that it makes any difference but I’m just curious
I had a suspicion that reverse garter stitch is worked in all purls. I had to find out. I added the pattern to my library.
I haven’t see that before, it seems a bit pointless unless a knitter really prefers purling.
Will you do it in all purls or all knits?
Is it in reverse garter stitch to retain placement of the motifs? If you change it to knit garter, the motif will be shifted up or down by a row.
I was just curious whether there was a reason. But I am going to assume they know a lot more than me, so I will follow what the pattern says. I will say I used the yarn recommended which is knitpicks comfy worsted. I really like it’s mostly cotton so not fuzzy for a baby. and so far I am pleased with the drape and feel. Though I am concerned I might be a little short on yarn. I bought the amount the pattern said. So I figured out how many rows to completion and I am going to see how many rows I get with first ball and multiply by number I bought to see if I have enough. I know not exact but hopefully give me rough idea. The first section is all garter so I’m not sure if that uses more yarn than stockinette. If I get really antsy I can order one more ball.
