Reverse cabled scarf

i posted about this before, but I have pictures now

there’s a big hole between cables… i have three columns(?) of cables going and the holes are between the columns and i have no clue why those are there…

is this normal…? it looks pretty weird to me T_T

Yes, it’s normal, you’re crossing some sts over others so there can’t not be a hole because you’re knitting them out of order. It’ll look better when you wash this when done, and don’t try to knit tight to close up the gap, that makes it worse; knit looser if anything so the extra yarn fills them in.

Is that the only hole or is next to every crossed cable?

that’s not the only hole… it happens whenever i have to work the cable pattern three times in a row. (Row 16 in the pattern below)

Rows 1-7: Slip first st as if to purl with yarn in front, K3 for garter st border. P2,
K2 across, end K4 for garter st border.
Row 8: Slip first st as if to purl with yarn in front, K3, work next 16 st in pattern.
Put next 8 st on holder, hold to back, work next 8 st in pattern, work 8 st in
pattern from the cable needle
, work next 16 st in pattern, end K4.
Rows 9-15: repeat rows 1-7
Row 16: Slip first st as if to purl with yarn in front K3. Work cable from * to *.
Work next 16 st in pattern. Repeat cable * to *. End K4.
