I had to rip out a few rows of my sock, I’m using lion brand sock-ease on #2’s. I can’t seem to get the stitches back on without dropping more. are there any tricks ? sock knitters?

Use a smaller needle or hook to put them on.
Good luck, I can NEVER get those little stitches back on the needle. It’s impossible! I have used a toothpick before, the crochet hook I have never seems to be small enough. I usually just either frog the whole thing and start over or keep knitting past the mistake.

You could also try threading a tapestry ndl with some waste yarn and then picking up the sts with the tap ndl. Once all the sts are on the waste yarn, transfer them one-by-one back onto the orig ndl.

Sometimes when I try to pick up stitches I notice when I have trouble with one and struggle to pick it up I cause the the next one to come undone. It will just keep going that way if I keep doing it. But if I just skip the one that has already unknit itself and go on to the next one I have better luck and can sometimes get the rest. Any one that comes undone and that I skipped I run a spare needle through or something so that it won’t keep running down, then on the first row of knitting pick it up with a crochet hook or whatever it takes.
That along with the smaller needle idea or the tapestry needle would be good. Also I don’t worry about which way I pick them up, just any way I can and if they are seated backward, when I knit the row I work into the back of the stitch to straighten it out.
I’ve found that I have ripped so many times that I’m getting better at it… 
Things that have helped - use smaller needles to pick up the stitches. You can go down several sizes (or use a needle and thread through the stitches and then transfer) since the needle you knit ONTO determines the size of the stitches after you get them reloaded.
I pinch the piece of knitting hard over the next several stitches so when I am tugging on one loop it doesn’t unravel the next ones. If I do accidentally run one stitch down, I grab it at the level below and keep on moving, then run it back up when I come to it during the first round I knit after I get everything back on the needles.
AND, I don’t worry so much about getting the stitches on in the correct orientation. I just get them on whichever way is easiest, then I correct so all the stitches are facing the correct way on that first round after getting them picked up. Hope this helps. When I first started knitting I had a lot more trouble, but I make lots of mistakes so I am getting better at picking up! 
I tear out past the error, then take out an additional row going backwards STITCH BY STITCH, working my way along and picking up each stitch and pulling out the next one and picking up there. The yarn that is still holding all the stitches except the one you are picking up will hold the stitches in place so they are easier to pick up.
Bet this doesn’t make a bit of sense, and it’s extra work, but it IS difficult to pick up so many small stitches all at once.
