Rejoining and picking up stitches help please?

Hi all

I’m knitting a pair of boottees for the first time! Very new knitter  I’ve done a whole heap of rows and then had to divide to knit an instep but now have to rejoin all the divided bits so its like i’ve got 3 lots of knitting going if you can understand what I mean - 11 stitches then 7 then another 11. The 7 are longer as this was the area worked on now I am meant to pick up 6 stitches along first side edge of instep, pattern across and then knit up 6 evenly along second side of instep and pattern across - eventually have 41 stitches. So after all that my question is how do I knit up the sides as in pick up the instep?

I hope I’m not too confusing and someone can help me fast! As I really need to finish them!

Thanks, Kell

Check out the video pages here - I think a couple will help you.

On this page there is one called “Picking Up Stitches” - it’s about 3/4 down.

Here “Working the Heel of a Sock” - watch this one, too.

Thank you Marilyn! The first video was fantastic - it showed me exactly how to do it and very clearly.

This is a great site for learners!
