Red Aran Afghan

Hi,

I posted photos of this Red Aran Afghan on another thread, however, I am showing it here as well. I truly appreciate seeing all of your knitted works of art…and have gained INSPIRATION to try some patterns and knitting techniques that I have been procrastinating! 37 years at the needles…still haven’t done a sock or entrelac. Der.

My afghan is knit using Rowan’s POLAR bulky yarn. It took 25 skeins with the ruffle, which was my idea, not the pattern. The afghan pattern itself is located in the a new book called CABLES UNTANGLED. It is shown in the usual creamy white, using the usual worsted weight.

I wanted a truly soft, cozy, big afghan for my catnaps! So, the Rowan POLAR bulky yarn really accomplished my goal. Finished it on the date shown in the photos. It took me about 4 weeks. I was obsessed with it. The weather was cold, and the afghan kept me warm and cozy all the while.

The Petite Bell Ruffle pattern is found in NICKY EPSTEIN’S “Knitting On the Edge”. CLICK HEREto buy the book ON SALE at Amazon.com! (Jan 29th 2008)

I had 31 skeins of this yarn in my Stash…begging to get out of yarn prison! Six remain. Not bad!

So, here it is!

Oh that is beautiful, I love anything with cables. I also like your collection of “Thomas Kinkades” or style on the wall, interesting way of laying them out.

You are certainly more patient then I am…

Now on to some socks…lol

That is gorgeous! I’m just speechless.

Magnificent!!! :cheering: :cheering:

That’s amazing! I’m starting to think about making that blanket now that I see how it turned out…maybe someday. :teehee:

Absolutely gorgeous! And what to do with that Polar that’s left?? How about making an Anthropologie Inspired Capelet? It’s the yarn the pattern designer used and ya can’t buy the Polar anymore. We’re having a Dogwood Winter right now and I wish I’d kept the one I made for myself!

Hi y’all! Thanks for the LOVE! :muah:

To answer a few questions:

I did not knit the white version of the afghan shown in the photo. I may knit a cream afghan someday…but it definitely WILL NOT be this same pattern. I was bored out of my mind by the time I got done! Crazzzy bored.

The Knitting Bags: the bag on the left is a custom bag (holding a WIP) by www.CatrunCreations.com The name of this bag is “Morgan”.
The bag on the right is a Green Mountain Bag! It is a med-lrg “Carpet Bag”.

The back of the sofa is their “spot” in line! I must confess, I have 7 knitting bags that house yarns ‘soon to be knit’! I affectionately call them my "Ladies in Waiting"…Once a batch of yarn makes it from the closet to the knitting bag…it is moving up the line to the Knitting Throne! :teehee:

Thanks for the pattern loveswildflowers! I sent you a PM…but don’t know if it “sent”. HERE is a link for Rowan POLAR yarn. This UK yarn lady sells it $65 for a bag of 10 with FREE SHIPPING. Also, singles for $6.50, but you pay some shipping. She used to have lots more colors available. Click on ASK SELLER A QUESTION, and ask her if she has any other colors laying around. She might have some odds and ends left. She will get right back to you.

The grouping of paintings on my wall: they are not Kincaide…however…I like the looser style of these artists. They are original oil, and I loves 'em!I have been in the art biz since 1981…many, many moons! I sell art (Art Consultant) and I love art…but I don’t paint. I knit. :teehee: But even with that, I don’t ‘design’. I soooo admire people, artists, who create designs! “Knitted Works of Art”! I am just happy that I can follow their directions! :teehee:

:passedout:

I hope that is for you!

I went back and looked :wall: I’m glad it’s for you! :teehee:
