Recycling yarn

Well, I have tried twice now to unravel a sweater…the first one had bad seams everywhere, and this one doesn’t seem to be any better.

I have gotten the seams taken apart, but it won’t unravel!! It seems you have to pull the yarn stitch by stitch through the loop it was knitted in!! Any advice? It is 100 percent white cotton, so I don’t want to have to get rid of it, but if I have to, I have to.

TIA
Katy

Edited to add:
As I look at the stitching, it seems the yarn has been twisted through the loops somehow. HTH

When you have finished taking say the sleeve of the sweater and are ready to start unraveling it you will see on the very first row that there is a braid that runs across. That needs to be snipped, and then you need to pick off all the little bits of yarn and then you can start unraveling your sweater. I ruined the very first sweater that I tried to unravel. Takes practice like anything else. Hope this helps.

Have you tried starting at the other end?

Actually Marnie, this IS the other end…lol
