Hi,
Has anyone ever knit with recycled sari silk yarn? I’ve got some from Ebay and although it’s VERY pretty, it seems kind of rough. What would be a good yarn to mix with it to maybe make it a little more soft? I want to knit my mother a shawl with it.
Does anyone have any pictures of something they knit with this type of yarn?
THANK YOU for any information regarding recycled sari silk yarn,

I asked for and received some for Christmas last year. It is beautiful - but I have to say I hated, hated, hated knitting with it. SIL actually bought 3 different types from here:
http://www.recycledsilk.com/patterns.html. 2 of them were twisted so tight it hurt my fingers/hands to knit it. THe 3rd was looser so was a bit softer, but still hateful to knit with.
All three were the same coloring, so I made the triangular purse here: http://www.recycledsilk.com/bags.html, but I really don’t like it. I would like to take it apart and make the first one or the mitered square one. I probably never will, though, as the thought of knitting again with the yarn is just too painful. Did I mention I hated knitting with it? :hair:
I can’t picture a shawl made with any of the 3 that I had, even the softer of the 3 wasn’t a soft yarn by any means, just softer then the other 2. I don’t think combining anything with it would work, it would just be even bulkier and stiff. but maybe it’s just me - Your millage may vary.
Good luck with your project–
Sue, I don’t know what you can mix with it or if it will help or just make it even heavier. But take a look at this:
