i have been knitting for a few months now and have just started my first pattern but i dont understand it when it say to end 50sts? the full line is :
cast on 40sts.
KNIT 8 ROWS
next row (k3, inc. in next st) to end (50sts).
which i have done up to increasing the 3 stitches but what dose it mean to end (50 sts)? please help
You don’t increase 3 sts but increase every 3 sts for 10 sts increased in all. To end means do it across the row and you will have 50 sts when you’re done.
Your row would be - K3, kfb, k3, kfb, k3, kfb etc until the end of the row.
You are supposed to just keep repeating the stuff in the parenthesis until you get to the end (of the row), at which point you will have 50 stitches.
The stuff in the parenthesis means to knit 3, then increase in the next stitch, just like Sue described above.
just wanna say thanks for your help i can now continue my pattern:muah:
You’re welcome! It took us all some time to figure these things out.
Yep, and in my case, by trial and error. I started knitting about 25 years before there was an internet…
Sue, without you (and this site and all the contributors) I wouldn’t know my ass from my long tail…
thx
or anything else!
