Reading a pattern help!

Okay, I give up… please help!
How do I read this part of the pattern, what am I doing?
I have never done lace before and am totally lost.

K 5, sm, *K1, SSK, (YO, K1) 3 times, YO, K2 tog; * repeat twice more, K1, sm, K 5

I get, K5, stitch marker moved, and then the asterix/parentheses mess me up. Can someone please decipher what I am repeating!

Okay, repeat just what’s in the () 3 times, repeat everything between the *s. So after doing the edge sts and moving the marker…

k1, ssk, yo k, yo k, yo k, yo k2Tog, then repeat that two more times.
