Reading a chart-help!

I am looking at this chart. The pattern looks like the picture. I am reading the chart from left to right all rows. So the first row starts with P2 then K2. The second line starts with K2 then P2

The code says the - means to purl on RS Knit on wrong side.
When I do this it is not like the picture at all.
What am I doing wrong.:knitting:

I’m not terribly experienced with charts but I believe you read knitting charts as follows: Row 1 - right to left; row 2 - left to right; row 3 - right to left; row 4 - left to right, and so on. So, on the chart you show, you start reading each row on the side that the number is listed beside. I know it’s not intuitive but that’s the way it’s done. Here’san article on how to read a knitting chart. Try reading the chart this way and see if you get the result you’re looking for. Good luck! Crossed Fingers

Thanks So much I just figured it out. Just printed the chart as follows row 1 K2-P2 row 2 K2-P2 row 3 P2-K2 row 4 P2 K2
Thanks for answering so fast.

When you follow a chart in the round you read all rows R to L, but knit flat, the WS rows are L to R.
