Rainbow sweater continued

For Left Sleeve only
Place marker at beg of last row (to denote front neck edge - this matches to fasten-off point of Left Front).
For Right Sleeve only
Place marker at end of last row (to denote front neck edge - this matches to fasten-off point of Right Front).

I am finding the left side does not match with left front
Where it says place marker at beg of last row etc I am finding it’s the other side
What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks nisha

Hello

When it says “left front” this is as if you are wearing the sweater.
I often have to do a brain switch for this because I will be looking at the sweater front with right side facing and from that position the left arm hole or neck edge is on the right. It helps if you turn the piece around and hold it up to you as though wearing it to know which is the left side. Then match up your left sleeve to the left side.

Does this resolve the problem?

If it is not this mix up then there may be some error so do ask again if this isn’t it.

It might also be that the left sleeve marker is placed on at the beg of the last row which is a wrong side row. Likewise, the right sleeve marker is placed at the end of the last row, a wrong side row.

It’s an unusual way to word this as you commonly see markers described from the right side rows.

What does it mean ‘place marker at beginning of last row’
I put marker at beginning of row and began knitting as per pattern ‘ Dec 1 st at marked front neck edge of next 6 rows, ending after 6 [6: 6: 8: 8] rows using F and with a ws row, ‘ but now am finding the marker is in the other side where it will join the back
Confused

Did you put the marker at the beginning of the purl row? That would be the “last row”

Hi
Yes and then started Dec 1 etc but it looks like this shd be right sleeve as marker goes to the back
I don’t want to finish the right sleeve in case I have done this wrong on the left sleeve

Thanks

I had to change yarn so marker was at beginning of that row as I joined the yarn
Am thinking that was wrong ?

The markers for each sleeve should be as indicated here. They should match up to the fasten off points on the respective fronts

Thank you think I have got it now.
Have reached the neck band now

Please could someone write this in simple language so I understand . Sorry have picked up knitting after 40 years and had never read patterns before .
‘Join all raglan seams.
With rs facing, K across 7 sts on Right Front holder, pick up and knit 7 sts up right side of front neck, and 5 sts from top of Right Sleeve, K across 19 sts on back holder, pick up and knit 5 sts from top of Left Sleeve, and
7 sts down left side of front neck, then K across
7 sts on Left Front holder. 57’

Thank you so much

Seam the raglan edges. Then you’re to pick up sts around the neck to make a nice finishing edge.
Start on the right front (that’s right front as you would wear the cardigan) and pick up the given number of sts in each section, the front and sleeve top. Then you can knit across the held sts on the back and finally pick up sts at the left sleeve top and left front. The next row is casting off these sts so it’s really just evening out the edges.
Here’s a video for picking up and knitting sts on vertical and horizontal edges.

and also a video for assembling the raglan seams in case you need it.

Reading patterns isn’t easy especially since each designer has his or her own way of giving directions. You will pick it up the more patterns you work and we’ll all be happy to help. This does get easier. You’re almost finished! Congrats.

Thank you so much nisha
