Raglan Sleeve

How do I make a raglan sleeve on a baby sweater. The pattern just said to decrease 1 stitch each end. Do I just knit 2 together to do this? I would like some feedback if you could help.
Thanks

It kind of depends on the pattern. Can you give us the pattern name and link if possible please?

A raglan sleeve starts out straight at the wrist then tapers off at the underarm. It’s a 45 degree angle to the left at the front and a 45 degree angle to the right at the back of the sweater. I’d suggest an SSK (left slanting) decrease at the right side of the sleeve and a k2tog (right slanting) decrease at the left side. If you want it to have a nice crisp line like a lot of machine made raglan sweaters have, knit the first and last stitches before you decrease. This is the type of decreases I like to use on my mitten top shaping. Try it out on a piece of scrap yarn on a small scale. When you sew the sweater together, you will have straight seams from the underarm up to the neck. You’ll seam the two front edges of the sleeves to the two fronts of the sweaters if they button and the back edges of the sleeves to the back (one) piece of the sweater. Then the neck is usually finished off by picking up stitches and knitting a neckline. sewing experience when my kids were little
