Raglan sleeve dividers
Be happy to try and help. After you place the markers you’ll be working increases before and after after the markers. The single stitch between the markers stays as the raglan stitch.
Is it the M1R and M1L that is the problem or something else?
No, I understand m1R etc. its figuring out how to place the markers. Do i begin at the beginning marker and go 41 on one side of it, then 42 on the other, then go to 53 stitches on each side and place a marker, then 30 more stitches on each side after that to get to the 83? And you mentioned the “single stitch” between the markers. I’m not sure where you get the single stitch.
Thank you very much for helping. I’m stuck and want to move on lol.
The single stitch is just a normal stitch that you place a marker on either side of in order to delineate it as the raglan “seam” (not really a seam, but looks like one).
The pattern is calling this single stich a “raglan stitch”. I don’t know whether this is a standard term because I don’t knit this style very often.
It seems like an instruction to do something, but it’s just a compound noun (two-word noun).
Do you have locking stitch markers (can be put in anywhere) or loop ones (you need to go to the spot to slip them onto the needle)?
If you have locking markers, you can do the set-up by counting your stiches and then putting the markers in the right place.
If you have loop markers, you can place them by slipping your way round all your stitches, or by putting them in while knitting the first round.
As it says to increase every other round, you can make your first round a plain round and place them as you knit if you wish.
Hi
Do you have 272 sts at the beginning of this section?
The divide is
Beg of round marker (make this a different colour or distinctly different looking to the next 8 markers)
Back 41 sts, place marker 1
1 st, place marker 2
Sleeve 53 sts, place marker 3
1 st, place marker 4
Front 83 sts, place marker 5
1 st, place marker 6
Sleeve 53 sts, place marker 7
1 st, place marker 8
Back 41 sts
You have reached the beginning of the round marker.
Each sleeve is 53 stitches. It has a single raglan stitch either side of it which is marked on each side with a marker.
Front is 83 stitches
Back is 83 stitches (41 + 42)
2 sleeves 53 + 53
Back and front 83 + 83
4 single raglan stitches
Total 276
I hope this helps you get past this part.
Thank you very much for your help. I needed to rip out 10 rows as I ended up with a number of stitches for the next size up. After I redo, I will follow your instructions.
Thank you!
Cheryl
Let us know how you get on.
It’s always a drag to undo rows but generally feels better once it’s done and you can start knitting again.
Darling pattern. If more questions come up, come right back here. We’re all happy to help.
I appreciate all the help, thank you!
