Raglan shaping question

I’m having trouble figuring out how to continue in my sweater pattern. The pattern reads as follows:
Increase as est at Raglan markers every RSR 0 (0, 0, 1, 2, 5, 17) more times; then every other RSR 5 (5, 5, 3, 3, 2, 0) times; then every RSR 4 (4, 5, 8, 8, 8, 0) times AND AT THE SAME TIME begin 5-st rib pattern at front edges and Mondo Cable sections as follows:

The markers that I placed did not specify which were the raglan markers?

Can someone help me understand how to do the increase?
Thanks!

Welcome to KH!
You should have placed 4 markers for the Raglan increases. These markers are on either side of the sleeves and they mark off the points where the sleeves meet the front and back.
The increases depend on the size that you’re making. For this pattern in the 3 smaller sizes you would skip over the first direction for increases and go to the second set of numbers.
Which size are you making and how many markers do you have on the needles now? Can you give us a link to the pattern or a pattern name?

Hi! I have placed 4 markers and my size is the 3rd in from the ( . I bought the pattern from chic knits http://www.chicknits.com/catalog/mondo-cable-cardi.html

The further instructions after the below read as follows:

Next Row (RS): [K1, P1, K1, P1, K1], P2, K10, P2, work to last 19 sts, maintaining increases as given above, P2, K10, P2, [K1, P1, K1, P1, K1].
Next Row (WS): [Sl 1 pwise wyif, K1, P1, K1, P1], K2, P10, K2, work to last 19 sts, K2, P10, K2, [P1, K1, P1, K1, sl 1 pwise wyif ].

Thanks for your help!

OK, great. Those 4 markers are the Raglan markers. The increases are likely on either side of the 4 markers so that you increase 8sts on each increase row.
I like to circle the directions for the size that I’m making so that it becomes easier to follow the pattern at each step.
It’s a very good looking sweater. Thanks for the link.

Thanks for answering but I’m still confused what the numbers mean in this section:
Increase as est at Raglan markers every RSR 0 (0, 0, 1, 2, 5, 17) more times; then every other RSR 5 (5, 5, 3, 3, 2, 0) times; then every RSR 4 (4, 5, 8, 8, 8, 0) times AND AT THE SAME TIME begin 5-st rib pattern at front edges and Mondo Cable sections as follows:

Do I increase 8 stitches one time and then do 8 stitches every other row for 3 total rows, and then every row 8 stitches 8 times? That’s how I’m reading it. And do I do the increase how I’ve been doing it in the neck shaping or just standard increase?
Thanks!

The instructions before these must have set up the placement of the increases. Usually these are set up on either side of the marker.
So you would increase as established previously at Raglan markers every RSR one more time; then every other RSR 5 times; then every RSR 5 times

That means that you work an increase row, call it row one. then every other right side row 5 times (that would be rows 5,9,13,17,21)
and finally every RS row 5 times (that’s rows 23,25,27,29 and 31)

I don’t know how you’ve been increasing for the neck shaping but I would say a regular increase (knit front and back, M1L, M1R or your favorite increase) will work here. There are videos on the Increases tab if you’d like to see some variety.

Perfect! That absolutely clarifies it for me! I really appreciate you taking the time to help me this is my first sweater!!

Thanks again!
