Hi. I am new here to these boards, but I love 'em.
I am attempting the Quidditch sweater in Charmed knits, and I am having trouble with the double rib. I don’t understand something; I don’t know what.
I’m supposed to cast on 118, and work double rib over 4 stitches plus 2. The plus two is killing me.
1) K2,P2 till last 2, K2
2) *P2,K2 * till last 2, P2
My stitches aren’t looking right, I have purls over my knits, argh!
Please, can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
I assume the Rows 1 and 2 directions are taken right from your pattern.
This pattern seems to be called the K2-P2 rib “double rib”…meaning it is double as compared to the very basic rib of K1-P1.
Don’t let the wording throw ya off. Work your foundation row 1 as set forth…K2/P2 all the way to the last 2 stitches, and then K those final two.
Turn the work around, and then knit the knits and purl the purls.
If you look at Row 2 directions…that is what it is telling you to do.
If you ended the Right Side Foundation Row 1 with K2…then when you flip your work around with the Wrong Side Row 2 facing you…those two stitches now look like purls…and that is what you do: Purl those first 2…then K2-P2 across the row…or as Row 2 says: "P2-K2 across the row…til the last 2 stitches…Purl them 2.
