Quick pumpkin felting question

I am doing a felted pumpkin…and yes I know tomorrow is Halloween so I am desperately trying to finish it now. It is the “Woolly Pumpkin” pattern by Marie Mayhew. It is knit in the round, all knit stitches. You knit continuously the pumpkin and stem, just switch color when you get to the stem part.

I am about to start the stem and noticed that the purl side of the pumpkin is facing outward. Should I turn it inside out before starting the stem? And is this even possible??

I have only done one other felted project and the knit side was naturally on the outside.

THanks for your help!!

If the purl side is facing out it means you knit it inside out. Unless there is some detail in the knitting it probaby doesn’t make any difference since you are felting it. You can turn it right side out if you want to though.
