Quick pattern question

I’m probably overthinking this, but do I need to rejoin it in the round after I finish these rows for the back or will it still be in the round when continuing on after these five rows?
Thanks.

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
When you knit Row 5 continue on to the next directions to separate the sleeves. Then keep knitting in the round. These seem to be short rows to elevate the back neck although it’s unusual to have them all stop at the same place before turning. Maybe knowing the pattern name will help.
You might put in a lifeline at this point in case you want to modify the back.

It’s this one: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/summer-light-4

I just like to have printed copies in front of me

Ah, I see. On the short rows for the back, rows 1-5 you’re to work 2 more sts each row. That makes sense. That way the short rows don’t stack on each other and instead turn 2sts past the previous turn. I’m much happier.
(see the Row1. 2 more 2(3,3,4,3) times)
Thank you for the pattern name! Have fun working this very pretty top.

Wait, would that mean I end up with a row of garter stitch on the back if I’m working the first row three times in a row? Or is it row 1 and 2, 2 more times?

I read it as rows 1 & 2 two times. There’s no evidence for stockinette in the photos of the pattern.

Oh I just noticed it doesn’t say turn after the wrong side row. That might be where I’m getting confused

Yes, keep the turns after the WS rows. The pattern is very loosely translated so there are parts that are not clear or complete.

so I looked at the Japanese version and what it says there is ‘step 1 repeat step 2 (2 more times), so I’m guessing it’s actually more than five rows but that the stitches do stack on top of each other because I think it’s repeat step 1 and 2 from taking the rough translation.

Yes, it’s a repeat of Rows 1&2 but looking at the project notes from other knitters, the intent of the “2 more 2 times” is to extend each short rows by 2sts each time so that they don’t stack. Stacking short rows even with a technique like German short rows or wrap and turn is not a smooth nearly invisible look. I’ve never seen stacked short rows used to extend a back on a sweater neck.
I have tried stacking for the turns required for intarsia in the round on a child’s sweater and didn’t like the look.
If you decide to work the stacked short rows, do put in a lifeline just in case you decide to rip back. Another possibility is to work a small swatch with stacked short rows and see what you think.
