Quick Felting Question

I just made a Teeny Tiny Felted Tote (Well, minus the “felted” part so far), and I’m ready to felt it, but I have a quick question first. I’ve never felted anything before, so I’m really nervous!

I made I-cord handles for it, which is not what the instructions called for, so I’m on my own with this part. Should I tie the handles through the holes THEN felt it, or felt it, THEN insert the handles? I’m thinking I should put it all together then felt it as a whole with the handles intact, but I want to make sure first. Anyone?

ETA: I made a YO hole (2 on each side) to place the I-cords so it would look like purse straps, so the holes are already there, in case that makes a difference. Maybe I shouldn’t have done that and researched before I did, but what’s done is done lol

When I made my bags , I felted the I cord handles separately. If the holes disappear in the felting process, you can easily cut the felted bag or use very large needles to poke the holes through. Good Luck.

Okay, thank you! I just wasn’t sure how easy it would be to tie the cords in knots after felting, and since they’re so pliable now I kept second-guessing myself.

LOL I just realized I had typed “YA” holes when I meant YO holes. I’ve fixed it now to avoid confusion. How embarrassing!

I’m going to go ahead and start the felting process then because I’m so excited to see the finished product!
