if a pattern calls for a decrease at the beginning of next 10 rows, but it does not specify HOW to decrease can I do it however I want? I only know knit2tog or slipknitslip…i assume either will work…? Thanks! - Tiff
That’s pretty much the only 2 ways to dec one st, unless you do the purl equivalents. Since it’s at the beg of the next 10 rows, do a ssk on knit rows and p2tog on the purl rows if you have any.
Thanks sue…another question…what is the diff btwn if I knit2tog or ssk? Is there a benefit to one vs the other? Just curious…thnx again! I only am doing garter stitch for the project…just fyi…
The ssk leans to the left, the k2tog to the right, and since these are done at the beg of the rows it will probably look better to lean away from the edges.
K2tog gives you a right-leaning decrease; ssk gives you a left-leaning decrease.
