Quick ? about binding off

I have to knit 6 rows and bind off to finish this blanket I am working on (my first project!). My question is - Do I knit 5 rows and then bind off or knit 6 rows and then bind off? I am confused…

TIA!

Knit 6 rows and bind off.

Yes, you should knit 6 rows and then bind off. Think about it this way… when you cast on, you do not count that as a knit row, therefore, you do not count your bind off row as a knit row. I hope this helps and makes sense.

Yes to what the others said - but I always get confused with that too - it does seem to add an “extra” row - doesnt it?

That’s because the BO is a row, it’s only different from another row in that the sts aren’t left on the needle. You knit it the same as any other row. But do follow the pattern - if they’d wanted you to knit 5 rows and BO, that’s what it would read.
