I’m being brave and attempting a sweater.
My pattern says to work in ribbing for 2 ins, [B]inc 2 sts evenly across last row and ending with right side facing for next row.[/B]
The bold part is what I don’t understand. Since I’m to just end whenever it reaches a certain length, not a certain number of rows, how do I know which is the right side? And how do I know which side it’s facing? And what next row?
(I’m thinking I’ll have a lot of questions about this pattern.

With ribbing either side looks the same except the cast on edge may look differently on each side. You will need to decide which side you like the looks of best and want to be on the outside of your sweater. They want to to increase 2 stitches on the last row of ribbing when you have 2 inches of ribbing completed. So when you have picked out the side you want to be the outside you could mark it somehow, like with a safety pin or a bit of yarn pulled through that side and a bow tied on the surface of the RS (right side) (like you would use to tie your shoe), then when you are very close to 2" (it doesn’t matter if it is slightly over or under) and you have the wrong side facing you (the one without the marker) increase 2 stitches as you work that row. Since you only have to increase 2 where you do them is not real critical, just put one on each end. You could put one 2 stitches from each end or 10 stitches from each end or something like that. I would use a backward loop increase that you just add on the right hand needle, it doesn’t matter where in the sequence of ribbing you are. They have this increase in the videos under cast ons. It is called the “Single Cast On” there and has a slight warning against this cast on, but in this case it is good to use because it is only 1 stitch not the whole cast on for a sweater.
When you have worked that last row of ribbing and turn to work the next row, you will now have the RS facing (the one with the marker you placed on the surface of the RS). From there on out that side will be the RS and probably after a bit you will be able to remove the marker because the RS will become more obvious when you get a few more rows into whatever type of stitch you are working the sweater in.

I think I explained that above but “the facing side” just means the side that is facing up as you begin to work a row, and in this case they want the right side of the sweater to be facing you. Some folks like to call this the “public side”, in other words the side the public will see.And what next row?

I think I clarified that above too. The next row in this case will be the row after the last row of ribbing in which you also increased the two stitches. That next row will be the right side row.
It’s mostly just telling you that the next row after 2" of ribbing will be the RS row from now on.
