Question

I have been looking at patterns and a lot of them have this information that I do not understand. Could someone explain it to me?
It says something like this: 2+2+2+2+

We need to see EXACTLY what it says, not “something like”. Everything matters, even the punctuation. Parentheses, commas, colons–they all indicate something in the language of patterns. And it may be slightly different between knitting and crochet patterns!

It’s best if you can take a photo of that part of a pattern and then we can be sure it’s correct.

Take a pic with your phone, then click on the little box icon above where you type (it’s supposed to be a tiny landscape, indicating “photo”). Click “Choose files”, then probably the camera icon.

daisymae, if your pattern is from a youtube video, we need a link to the particular pattern. Out of context, your question is very difficult to answer.

I would expect the video to show you what it means. I’ve never seen this 2+2+2+2 type of instruction in a written pattern.

It is showing you how to make A blanket step-by-step by a video so when it is starting to chain on, it, has those numbers at the top telling you how many chains to make

Could you please share a link to, or the title of, the video?

I found Crochet Art Lovers’ website, but couldn’t find this specific video (light blue yarn, red hook). Please copy the video URL at the top of the page and post it for a more definitive answer.

It probably means you can do as many chains as you want for whatever size blanket you want, as long as it’s a multiple of 2. I saw another of hers that said 666*2, which would mean multiples of 6 stitches, plus 2 at the end to turn.

I personally wouldn’t want ONLY a video pattern, because then it’s hard to take out to a coffee shop, or to crochet in the park.
