Question re: Pattern and repeats

I am currently working on this pattern:

The pattern calls for a CO of 55 sts (this including the 2 gtr sts at the beginning and end for border).

Here’s where my issue is at. On row 9 of the lace pattern the pattern is as such:
K2 (for border) - K2, K2tog, yo, k3, k1, k2tog, yo, k1, skp, k1, k2tog, yo, k3 to last 8 sts, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, skp, k2 - (k2 for border)

Here’s my silly question. If the repeat pattern is:
[I]k1, k2tog, yo, k1, skp, k1, k2tog, yo, k3[/I]
then should it end on the last stitch of K3 just before the last 8 sts?

When I did it several times, I would actually only get to the K2tog, and had to forgo the yo and k3, before I started the last 8 sts (w/o the 2 border).

Am I missing something???

Are you making your YOs by wrapping the yarn and knitting a stitch, or just wrapping the yarn? A YO is only wrapping the yarn.

It may help if you study the stitch graph for that lace pattern, compare it to the written instructions. Having both often helps clarify things.
