Question re counting increases

OK, I’m almost finished with my first sweater. But am a little confused on the sleeves. The pattern says to “inc 1 st each side every 4th row 5 times, every 6th row 10 times.”

So, I’m knitting and do row 1, row 2, row 3, then I inc row 4, knit row 5, inc row 6 . . . then how do I count after that? (ie, get to row 8, which would be a 4th row, and inc and then get to row 12, which would be both a 4th row and a 6th row)???

Am I making it too complicated? Sorry if it’s a totally stupid question, but . . . any help would be appreciate.:x:

You don’t do them at the same time… Increase in the 4th row, then the 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th, then start the every 6th row incs, which would be 26, 32, etc…

Duh . . . totally makes sense . . . too bad there’s not an “embarrassed” smiley face. thanks

There is ( ), but you don’t need to be embarrassed! We all have to learn sometime!

Yep, we’ve all puzzled over patterns at some time or another…
