When decreasing using DPN’s, when you get to the end of one needle, and you have 1 stitch left, and that’s where you’re supposed to knit 2tog, what do you do? (You can tell I’m new at DPN’s).
Just wondering,

I always just pop it over to the next needle.
Once you’ve done this, does this stitch stay on this needle, or do you have to switch it back to its original needle?

i just keep it where it is…it always irritates me just a little when that happens too…but it is a minor irritation
Thanks for your quick response, but I just finished “1” mitten knitted on DPN’s and ran into this and that’s what I did, but I didn’t know if this was the correct way to do this, or if it made any difference in the way it was supposed to look. I’m not sure I like DPN knitting–I guess I need to get used to it. One problem is, when you make a sl. mistake, it is “high maintenance” fixing it. Also, I found picking up one stitch at the “gap” of the thumb, very confusing on this mitten pattern. I picked up the stitch where I thought it was supposed to be, starting knitting, and found that it looked like purling instead of stockinette stitching. So, I finally figured out that I had to start at a different point on the thumb. The thumb part to me was more difficult than any part of the pattern. Any suggestions?

i don’t know…i just finished my first mitten, and there was a wonky stitch at the thumb that i never quite figured out…it is out of the way but only because i stitched it down…lol. working on the second one now…will try to take it in to my LYS when i get there and see if they can show me what to do with it since i can’t seem to see it.
i did mine on two circs and i gotta say it was WAY easier than doing them on DPNs. I started the first mitten on DPNs and it was fine but it went so much faster on the two circs it was amazing to me.
