hi all petites 
im doing a sweater for a petite that lives in a different state, so i dont have her in front of me…
how much shorter should i make the length & sleeve length ?
say for example the sleeves are 19 inches long, should i cut an inch/half an inch? same for the length??

Do you know what size she is? I’m just shy of 5 feet tall, and a little less than 100 lbs., so pretty much the smallest of the small, even in petite sizes. If that sounds like her, I can measure a sweater for you. Most people are not as short as me, though…
I’m 5’1 and about 145 and busty. But I am also pretty short waisted, so that changes things as well. I have long legs in proportion to my body. Is the sweater a surprise? If not, you could just ask her to measure herself?

she is 5-3 size medium in juniors & small in woman/misses…
bust is a 34 b i think, weighs 110 maybe…does that help any?
Well, she’s a bit taller than me, so I probably wouldn’t make a good model, but I did find this chart, which actually has center back arm length measurements for petites. It looks like the sleeves would be about 1.25 inches shorter than for regular sizes. HTH

hey, am i your friend? are you secretly knitting me a surprise sweater? those are my measurements, though i have to admit with a bit extra thickness in the booty area i’m about 117. but i usually don’t actually need my sleeves to be any shorter. maybe i have longer arms, i don’t know, but i’m generally pretty happy with normal sleeve length. and anyway always better an inch long than an inch short!
True, some people may be short, but have long arms for their height. I’m about 5’7" with long arms and legs, and a short body. So I measure my work to get it to come out right.
