Question for crocheters

I taught myself how to knit from a book, and suplimented my sparse knitting knowledge with this site. Now I would like to learn how to crochet…so I bought a book. What I would like to know is if anyone knows of a site similar to this one except for crochet.

I would like to watch some videos, and hopefully be able to post questions. Does anyone know of a site like that out there on the information autobahn?

Try this.
Lion Brand - Learn to crochet

Jan, you are always soooo helpful, and quick!!!  :muah: :muah: Thanks.

You’re welcome! :teehee:

If you’re after a forum similar to this, Crochetville is a very friendly, active forum.

I like

I too wanted to see if I could learn to crochet and bout the book Ready Set Crochet because the knit version was so good. maybe i’m just not good at crochet, because I was a miserable failure at it :!!!:
The pictures and illustrations and such were all very nice though. maybe if crochet used 2 sticks instead of 1 I would be better at it :??

I just learned to crochet for a very specific project. Since 12/24, I have crocheted approximately 53 hours (159 granny squares at 20 min/square). My eyes are killing me and there is a spinning “spot” in my vision representing the glint of the crochet hook (it doesn’t go away overnight, I can see it whenever I close my eyes or enter a dark room). You know, like if you play a video game too long it gets caught in your brain?

Normally, I knit constantly and this has never happened. I think it is because I hold the crochet closer to my eyes whereas I just hold knitting in my lap. I guess I am not confident that the crochet stitches will be right the way I am with knitting.

For the first 100 squares, I didn’t think to weave in my ends as I went along, so this weekend I will end up spending hours weaving in ends.

I bought the yarn for another crochet project, but I’m not sure I have the heart for it. I can’t wait to knit again; I haven’t let myself knit since I started this blanket so I will finish it.

Ok, that’s my vent. My MIL and grandmother both LOVE crochet and are always telling me how it’s better than knit. Good, they can do it for me and I’ll knit for them and everyone will be happy!

I LOVE knitting. It has become one of the major passions in my life, and I am constantly trying to convert people. :teehee:

Basically I want to learn to crochet just enough to do edging on some knitted pieces. Because when I pick up stitches there is a noticable ridge on the back side of my work, and I don’t like it. So I’m hoping if I can crochet an edge that ridge will go away.

Oh, and thank you for all of the quick responses. I absolutely adore this forum and the people in it. Everyone is sooo helpful, and I have excelled as a knitter since I found this place.
