I just learned to crochet for a very specific project. Since 12/24, I have crocheted approximately 53 hours (159 granny squares at 20 min/square). My eyes are killing me and there is a spinning “spot” in my vision representing the glint of the crochet hook (it doesn’t go away overnight, I can see it whenever I close my eyes or enter a dark room). You know, like if you play a video game too long it gets caught in your brain?
Normally, I knit constantly and this has never happened. I think it is because I hold the crochet closer to my eyes whereas I just hold knitting in my lap. I guess I am not confident that the crochet stitches will be right the way I am with knitting.
For the first 100 squares, I didn’t think to weave in my ends as I went along, so this weekend I will end up spending hours weaving in ends.
I bought the yarn for another crochet project, but I’m not sure I have the heart for it. I can’t wait to knit again; I haven’t let myself knit since I started this blanket so I will finish it.
Ok, that’s my vent. My MIL and grandmother both LOVE crochet and are always telling me how it’s better than knit. Good, they can do it for me and I’ll knit for them and everyone will be happy!
