Question about yarn for Sophie Bag?

For those of you who have done this pattern… I am looking to do this pattern using Jamieson’s DK Shetland. Do I need to use two strands then when doing this project? Also, can it be modified easily to make it bigger/wider? Thanks!

If I were to use DK yarn, I wwould double it. And, yeah! I would say it would be easily made bigger. You really could just add as many extra rows and COsts as you like to the base. The decreases that make it the cool shape it is are done every 10 rows.
