This is the little blanket I did for the compassionate kal. The top edge that you see in the picture looks shorter or more drawn in than the bottom, but it’s the same number of stitches. It was stretchy the whole time I was knitting it ~ up until I finished and took it off the needles. Now it’s tight all along that edge while the rest still stretches. What could I have done wrong?
Question about this fo
You probably bound off a bit tightly.
I bound off on the far right side (in the pic) ~ could that still have made the side (top in the pic) so tight?
Oh! In that case, I really don’t know. :??
I’ve found that on some of my projects, that happens to me too. What happens is (only on one side) when I start the new row, sometimes I pull the yarn too tight which then makes the side tight. Hope this helps!
Someone on here told to slip the first st. of each row. Would that prevent this from happening? Just a thought.
If you slip the first stitch, you’re essentially doing on both sides anyway, so they should be even. You’re also starting a row on both sides, so I don’t understand why one would be tighter.
I love the little bow, though. It makes all the difference!
I agree with Ingrid. I saved the picture into a folder long enough so I could “zoom in” on it.
I can tell looking at the enlarge picture that the cast on edge is at the bottom and the bound off edge is at the top.
When I first learned to knit, someone suggested that I use a larger needle to bind off.
Now that I look again, the stitches are running in that direction.
So I only thought I cast off on the other side? :roflhard: I guess that makes perfect sense then! Thanks so much ladies ~ binding off too tightly would make perfect sense about why it’s so tight. Thanks about the bow too ~ I thought it was just too cute.
