Hi, I am knitting a baby dress and currently am working on the back right side shoulder. I went thorough [COLOR=“Blue”]Divide for back opening, Shape armhole, Shape neck[/COLOR]
MY question is where does [COLOR=“red”]34sts[/COLOR] in the shape shoulder come from. I only have 8 sts on the needle and 8 sts bind off. I dont know what I did wrong. Please help me. Ill quote every step.
Before these steps I had 67 sts on my needle.
[COLOR=“blue”]DIVIDE FOR BACK OPENING[/COLOR]
Next row(RS):Patt 31 sts and turn, leaving rem sts on a holder.
Work each side of neck separately.
Next row(WS):Cast on and k3 sts, P to end. 34sts
Next row: Patt to last 3 sts,k3
Next row: k3, P to end
These 2 rows set the sts-back opening edge 3 sts in garter st with all other sts still in patt.
Keeping sts correct as now set, work even untill Back measures 13 3/4" ending with RS facing for next row.
[COLOR=“blue”]SHAPE ARMHOLE[/COLOR]
Keeping sts correct, bind off 6 sts at beg of next row, then 4 sts at beg of foll alt row. 24 sts. Work 1 row, ending with RS facing for next row.
Next row(RS):k2, P2tog, K to end.
Next row: k3, P to end.
Rep last 2 rows until armhole measures 3", ending with RS facing for next row.
[COLOR=“blue”]SHAPE NECK[/COLOR]
Next row(RS):Patt to last 8 sts and turn, leaving rem 8 sts on a holder. 12 sts. Work even until armhole measures 4 3/4", ending with RS facing for next row.
[COLOR=“blue”]SHAPE SHOULDER[/COLOR]
Bind off.
Mark positions for 4 buttons along right back opeing edge. first to come 1 1/8" up from base of opeing, last to come 3/8" below mect shaping and rem 2 buttons evenly spaced between.
With RS facing, rejoin yarn to rem sts, patt to end.
Next row(WS) Patt to last 3 sts, k3.[COLOR=“Red”] 34 sts.[/COLOR]
Next row:k3, patt to end.
