Question about substituting yarn

Newbie here. I am really wanting to make a hat for my son. Dont have circular needles and am pretty beginner, but found this pattern that looks do-able for me…

but I have this yarn that I wanted to make it with.

How do I need to adjust the pattern or is it just not a good idea. I am clueless with yarns and different types etc…

Yes, the Camo yarn is similar to the yarn in the pattern. The only thing you change is you won’t have to switch colors, the yarn does it for you.
