Question about simultaneous instructions

I’m not sure I’m interpreting these instructions correctly. When the pattern states to shape the shoulder when the armhole measures 22 cm I did as instructed. However, I was still on the part where it was telling you to shape the v-neck and I was decreasing there. The front of the sweater looks odd to me and I’m not sure if I should have waited to start the shoulder

shaping until I was done with the v-neck but the armhole measured 22 cm so I did. What do you think?

Also, after I got down to the 15 stitches work which worked out, it says to increase cast on one stitch on the right edge of the neck being to make 16 stitches. I’m not sure why I have to do that and I’m wondering is it the right edge as I’m looking at the sweater.

What is the name of your pattern and the designer name please?
Assuming the measurements are correct (and that’s easy for you to re-check) then that looks correct to me. Were you measuring up from the underarm bind off row straight up for 22cm? Don’t measure along the curve of the armhole but straight from the bind off row.
The shoulder shaping should match up with the back shoulder since they will be seamed together. The neck band extension will probably extend to mid-back at the neck. I usually leave a length of yarn attached just in case I need to add a row or two so the neck joins nicely at the back.

What may not make sense is the instruction to “cont in cable pat as established for 13cm” since at this point you may have used up all the cable pattern sts.

The pattern is Ladies Pullover s9401 by Schachenmayr Designteam. I did measure straight up,not along curve of arm opening. I am traveling and the sweater back is at home.
Yes the cable pattern runs out midway along v-neck. That’s a good idea to leave a bit of yarn Incase I need to add to neck band. I’m about to start R front. Thanks for the help.

Ah, always good to see the pattern. Thanks for that information. I wondered about the cable pattern and it appears that the cable should continue up the side of the V. The decreases were meant to be worked between the stockinette stitch and the cable itself.
See the second photo down on the Ravelry page. I’m sorry that I missed it the first time, paying too much attention to “at the neck edge” and not enough to the placement of the initial decrease. My apologies.

Ohhh! So I was supposed to do the decrease each time by k2tog 2 stitches before the cable as directed. Not literally at the neck edge. I didn’t have the photos except for 1 tiny one. It looks so much better. I’m going to rip out to the V. I kept wondering why they said continue cable.

What a great sweater. You did a brilliant job on the cables and neckline

That turned out beautiful! For future reference, Roxanne Richardson is a cable fanatic and has lots of videos on You Tube about working and tweaking cable patterns with when and where to do increases or decreases for the desired result. Rox is my go-to for anything cable, always my first stop when I need info. That’s not to say don’t ask here. Asking here is always great.
