Question about poncho

I’m working on this poncho and i was wondering if I can make 2 pieces alike and join them like a basic poncho instead of working it all in one piece and folding it over. I would like to have it pointy from the front and back. is it possible?? and how?

oops forgot the link

lool oops, it is for the lace poncho. and if i wanted it just a bit longer to cover my bottom, how can i do that?

Amy has a video for how to put together a two-rectangle poncho on her getting started page. Scroll down a little. It’s under the girl wearing a poncho on the left side.

hi jane, I know how to join the 2 rectangles together its just that by using this lace pattern, one side is not straight. that is what is confusing me.

Oh, I see. Maybe you could sew it together a little bit in from the edges so that the scalloped parts are not captured in the seam, but overlap.

any idea of how long I should make each piece??

I ran into a few two rectangle ponchos on the web while searching for you earlier. Your best bet is to find one that looks like it’s about the size you want and use it as a guide. Just remember to allow extra for the scalloped edges if you’re going to make them overlap the seam.

Actually, when knit as a rectangle, all 4 sides are scalloped. Not sure if you can tell from the photo I posted in the other thread: http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21660

So when you sew the edges, you can fit the hills in the valleys and the valleys in the hills. Should work as easily with 2 rectangles as it was with one. Good luck!
