Question about pattern

Hi knitters,

I finally have settled on a very pretty tank top. However I am lost here.

It has very limited (at least to me) instructions for the bodice, front and back. It tells how to divide the back from the front but then says nothing about what pattern to knit in for the front and back. Please help. It doesn’t say to how many inches to knit to either, etc. Thanks for your help.

I just found this instruction from my last posted website.
Front

Shape Armholes
Row 1: Sl1, ssk, knit to the last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1, turn
Row 2: purl
Repeat rows 1-2 4 (4, 5, 5, 6) more times.
Work stockinette st for 14 (18, 22, 26, 30) more rows.
Bind off.

So this is worked from the top down? Then the pattern would make more sense.

Very pretty, very delicate pattern.
These directions tell you how to proceed. They are limited but should be all you need:

Cast on 188 (206, 242, 269, 305) sts. Being careful not to twist sts, join into circle. Place a marker to denote the beginning of the round.
Knit 94 (103, 121, 139, 157) sts, place a second marker to denote the end of the front and the beginning of the back sts. Work 88 (96, 96, 104, 104) rounds or to desired length in lace pattern

The vine lace pattern is given earlier in the instructions and you can knit this for whatever length you wish. If you would like it much longer than the model, you might think about adding another ball of yarn.

The multiple may be a little tricky. Which size are you making?

(ETA: Knit from the bottom up)

Oh boy, thank you so much. I am knitting the XS size thank goodness.

So when it says bodice it means the part above the lace pattern that is straight St St?

The Bodice directions refer to the vine lace pattern from the bottom edge to the armhole bind off. Then the pattern changes to st stitch and you work the front and back separately.

Ahhhh…okay thanks much.
