Question About Pattern Repeat

I’m going to be making the “Pillow/Blanket” that appears on page 59 of the Spring 2006 issue of Knit1 magazine. The pattern calls for a size 10 needle, but I’ll probably use a size 8 needle. I’ve figured out the adjustments I’ll have to make to compensate for using a smaller needle, EXCEPT for the pattern repeat. The pattern calls for a cast on of 142 stitches and the pattern is:

Row 1 (RS): P2, *sl1, k2, psso, p2; rep from * to end
Row 2: k2, *P1, yo, p1, K2; rep from * to end

I’m thinking that I’ll need to cast on a multiple of 5 plus 2 - is that correct? I arrived at the figure by counting the number of stitches between the *'s on each row.

Any help would be appreciated.

That’s what I would go with, too, for what it’s worth.

Thanks!
