Question about mitered hanging towel

Hi all! I’m working on the mitered hanging towel pattern found in the Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines and Canadian Living.

I don’t understand the numbers in bold below. Can you help?

Rows 10, 12, and 14 Knit – 72 sts.
Repeat rows 1–14 twice more – 44 sts.
Repeat rows 1–8 – 36 sts.

Thanks so much!

Those numbers indicate the number of stitches you should have on your needle after the completion of that row/last direction.

Thank you so much! I appreciate it!

Could you please edit your original post to show only the rows you’re asking about? It’s not a good idea to repost an entire pattern, it’s copyrighted to MD and/or C Living.
